It's Time For The Reindeer Games at Peak-Inc!!

It's that time of year again! We're getting into the holiday spirit here at Peak-Incorporated, but that doesn't mean we have lost our competitive edge! We are all taking part in the Reindeer Games! Our office Santa Claus, (Eric), left some enticing incentives under the tree!

Here's how the game works; we are each awarded points based on our performance and at the end of the games, the one with the most points gets first pick of the prizes, and so forth.

But don't forget! Points can be deducted, too! So everyone better stay on top of their game, or you can kiss those points good-bye!

May the best man/woman win!

How Successful People Tackle Mondays

Mondays...most people despise them. It’s tough to get back into gear after a weekend off, and it can be daunting to begin the week, thinking of all of the upcoming obligations. How can we turn the dreaded Monday into an exciting and fresh start to a brand new week, or even a brand new life? It’s all about adopting a positive attitude and forming healthy habits. Here are some things successful people do to kick-start their weeks and beat the Monday blues.

1.) They decide it’s going to be a good day. Sometimes all it takes is positivity and determination. Making a conscious, mindful decision to be happy and excited about the day can make all the difference.

2.) They wake up early. The worst thing you can do is drag around all morning. Get up, get dressed, eat a healthy breakfast, sneak in a workout if there’s time and get ready to kick Monday’s butt!

3.) They show up early. Getting to work ahead of time to ensure that everything is organized and ready to go for optimum productivity will help things run smoothly for the remainder of the week.

4.) They spread the positivity. A positive attitude is contagious, and by simply greeting your coworkers you can spread that happiness and motivation all throughout the office. In turn, you will be able to feed off of the positivity of others!

5.) They get focused. They visualize success for the upcoming week, prioritize projects and come up with a game plan.

6.) They tackle the more challenging tasks head on. Getting the more difficult tasks over and done with early on relieves anxiety and pressure for the rest of the week.

7.) They view Mondays as a fresh start. Instead of dreading the start of the work week, successful people get psyched about the beginning of a brand new week and all of the opportunities that come with it.

Happy Monday!

Making Networking Work for You

In our last blog, we talked about the many ways that networking can benefit us and our businesses. This week, we thought it would be fitting to talk about how you can make networking events work for you, no matter who you are.

Some people love networking events and are naturals when it comes to conversing in large groups, while others are more comfortable in more intimate settings. Then, there are those who shy away from social settings all together. Never fear, we have compiled some networking tips for the extroverts, introverts, the socially uncomfortable as well as those who would much rather spend the evening hiding out under the buffet table!

All personality types can benefit from following a few bits of advice and come out of networking events feeling fulfilled rather than stressed and uncomfortable.

1.) Manage your expectations. What is the goal of this particular event? Are you going just to make new connections? To gather information? To gain new clients? Go at it with a goal in mind so your expectations will be clearly defined and focused.

2.) Set a time limit. Instead of committing to stay for the duration of the event which can be overwhelming, plan on staying for an hour or so. This takes the pressure off, but if you’re having a great time, stay longer!

3.) Ask for introductions. If you know someone who will be at the event, ask them to introduce you to others who they already know. This holds two benefits. One being that it is an easy way to start a conversation and meet others. The second being that being introduced by someone who is known in the industry typically holds more weight than just walking up and introducing yourself alone.

4.) Practice listening purposefully. Listen with the intent of learning something. Too often, people listen only so they can respond. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn. Those in your presence will pick up on your genuine interest and will likely appreciate that about you and take an interest in you, as well.

5.) Take note of your body language. Body language is huge when it comes to portraying confidence, comfortability and approachability. Keeping your back straight with shoulders back and an open body portrays confidence, whereas crossed arms and fidgetiness portrays a lack of confidence and unapproachability.

6.) Practice a short bio, or introduction. Not everyone needs this, but for those who are not all that comfortable in social situations, having a go-to intro can be super helpful.

7.) When you’re stuck, just ask questions! If you’re stuck with an awkward silence, just ask others questions about themselves! “Where’d you go to college? What do you do for fun? Where are you from? Hey! This food is pretty good, huh?”

8.) Watch those cocktails. A lot of networking events provide alcohol, which can be a GREAT way to loosen things up, but one too many and that can back fire on you BIG TIME.  Nothing is worse than nursing a shame-over after a big event, replaying all of your martini fueled buffoonery. yikes

9.)Most importantly, be yourself and be genuine. Whether you are a social butterfly or more on the shy side, just be you and the more you put yourself out there, the easier these events will become.

Happy networking!

The Power of Networking

Networking is a priceless art when it comes to sustaining and expanding your business. Networking is also an incredibly important tool for nonbusiness owners who want to advance in their career and expand their opportunities for success.

-The most obvious benefit of networking is the expansion of clients and referrals. The more contacts you have, the more potential clients you have. Additionally, networking can provide you with references when you are in need of a service, as well.

-The old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know”, often rings very true in business! Networking events provide a plethora of highly influential connections, who you may not have otherwise had the opportunity to meet. Additionally, each person you meet has their own network of connections, which multiplies your network of contacts exponentially!

-Networking with other successful business owners/entrepreneurs within your field of work opens the door to numerous opportunities such as joint ventures, partnerships, speaking or learning opportunities, and many other mutually beneficial opportunities.

-Who better to learn from than those who have been in your shoes? Networking events connect you with others in your line of work who can offer invaluable advice. In turn, you may be able to offer some guidance to others seeking advice.

-By regularly attending networking events, you can increase your visibility in the business world and establish a presence for your business while building a solid reputation.

-When you are surrounded by like-minded professionals, you will be positively influenced by their success and enthusiasm. As the saying goes, “ A man is known by the company he keeps”. If you want to be successful, it is best to connect with others who embody the same passion as you.

- Last but certainly not least, networking events are the perfect platform to meet new friends. Life can’t be all work and no play, right?!

Great Turnout at the K9 for Warriors Benefit!

Here at Peak-Inc., we love holding events to give back to the community! As you all may know, we held a fundraiser at Brewery Rickoli this past weekend for K9s for Warriors.

K9s for Warriors is an incredible organization which provides service canines to our combat veterans who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and/or military sexual trauma resulting from military service post 9/11. The goal of matching service dogs with warriors is to empower these brave men and women to lead independent lives with the dignity they deserve. Additionally, 95%of these service dogs are rescues!

We were thrilled to be able to make a contribution to such a great cause and were able to raise over $500 while having a great time with the community!

If you were unable to make it to the event, but would like to contribute to this amazing organization, you can still make a make a difference! There are many different ways to give back to our warriors within this organization. Click here to learn more!

Here are some pictures from our fundraiser!
