Correlation Between Making Your Bed and Success?

There has been a lot of talk about the correlation between making your bed every morning and overall success and productivity. We all know that making your bed in the morning is a good habit to practice, but what can making your bed possibly have to do with anything other then having a clean bedroom?

U.S. Navy Admiral, William H. McRaven spoke at a commencement ceremony at the University of Texas, and stated, "If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed." He then elaborated by stating, “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day.It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.”

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? Making your bed every morning will lead to more accomplishments throughout the day, and will also kick-start some other benefits as well!

-Let's talk about when you don't make your bed. Leaving your room in a messy, disorganized state can lead you to feel disorganized all day. Rolling out of bed, dragging yourself out the door and muddling through the day is not a recipe for success! Make that bed and start out your day like that boss that you are!

-Making your bed instills the idea that the little things matter. Paying attention to small matters is the foundation to tackling larger obstacles.

-You will likely sleep better! There is nothing better then hopping into an inviting, beautifully made bed at the end of a long day. Seeing a tidy sleeping space, will put your mind at ease, while seeing a messy pile of blankets and a pile of unfolded laundry will make you feel uneasy and pretty bummed out as well. Who wants to have to clean up and make the bed right before going to sleep?!

-Keeping a neat and tidy living space,(or sleeping space), will help keep stress at bay. A clean, comfortable space can be your own little safe haven in this stressful and chaotic world! Visual noise and chaos is an inescapable, nagging reminder of how cluttered and disorganized your space is, which may lead you to feel disorganized as a whole. No one needs that added anxiety!

-Making your bed will lead to other good habits. Having a daily routine is crucial to feeling organized and at peace. Little daily habits will come together and contribute to a structured, productive day!
