How to be a GREAT Salesperson!

In the competitive world of sales and marketing, the difference between a worthy product sitting on the shelf or being implemented into successful use, often relies on the sales team. The ONLY way to be successful in sales in today’s economy, is to be great! What sets apart a mediocre sales associate from a fantastic one? Great sales people live, drink and breathe sales. They harbor specific characteristics and standards that set them apart leaps and bounds from someone who is not passionate about their career. Let’s take a look at some of these attributes.

They are DRIVEN. They have a need to set goals high and do everything possible to meet those goals. They are CONFIDENT in themselves, their sales abilities and the products they represent.

They are RELATABLE, GENUINE and FUNNY! Yes, of course they take their business seriously, but are able to do so while being approachable and
likable. No one wants to fall victim to the anguish of listening to a sales-person go on and on with a monotonous sales pitch.

They are ORGANIZED and LISTEN more than they speak. They address the prospect’s concerns and present pertinent information in a structured fashion. They are ASSERTIVE, ETHICAL and they OVER-DELIVER. A great sales-person effectively controls interactions while maintaining personal ethics as well as those of the company they represent. They also promise great results and often over-deliver! Mediocrity is NOT in their vocabulary.

Lastly, they are TEAM PLAYERS who hold them selves to HIGH STANDARDS and surround themselves with OVERACHIEVERS. They focus not only on closing sales and meeting quotas, but they have a strong desire to build and improve the business they are affiliated with, as well. They surround themselves with positive, hard-working people and feed off of each other’s enthusiasm for success!

Not everyone is a natural-born seller! Some of these qualities will take time to develop. That is why team-building is such an essential part of any successful sales business. So, set your goals high, your standards high, keep your heads up high and your sales will be high! Get your sales on!
