2015 is here and January is coming to an end. That means that those of us who have made resolutions are in danger of falling off the wagon and falling back into old habits. Where do we go wrong when making New Years resolutions?
There's something so inspiring and motivating about the start of a brand new year, that everybody gets on the "new year, new me" kick. Well, there's nothing wrong with the current you! When you try to completely remodel yourself and set unattainable goals, you are setting yourself up for failure, and that is why so many people give up not long after they begin. Just aim for small improvements- after all, you're already pretty great to begin with! And just because New Years has already come and gone, it is never too late to begin again! Here are a few tips to set yourself up for success.
1. Set small, measurable attainable goals. Don't overwhelm yourself with too much pressure; that is how people fail. However, don't underestimate yourself, either. If you have a big goal, break it up into smaller, measurable goals so you can mark your progress along the way.
2. Make room for fun goals, too! Have a hobby that you stopped doing years ago? Make some time to get back into it!
3. Write them down. Make a chart or a vision board and hang it where you can see it.
4. Make it fun! Set goals that make you feel good about yourself. Think about how you'll feel after you accomplish them. Don't make it a daunting task.
5. Set goals in different areas of your life (your health, your relationships, your career, your hobbies, etc).
6. For the love of Pete, don't fall victim to fad diets! Just aim to improve your health! (add more fruits and veggies, cut out refined foods, exercise more, etc).
Now go have some fun and kick 2015's butt!
