Spring Is In The Air!


Today marks the spring equinox, and the season of sunshine and renewal is upon us!  Although March temperatures in 2013 fall below average for most of the United States, the equinox is a reminder that lovely weather and happiness will soon be on their way!!

For most of us, spring symbolizes birth, renewal, and a fresh start. Why not do some spring cleaning in your personal life? Shake off the winter blues and start fresh! Think of how great you feel after a thorough spring cleaning of your home. Show yourself the same love and respect and rid yourself of any toxins that may be preventing you from feeling your best! Here are some ways to better and renew yourself this spring!

  • Let go of any regrets. Stop beating yourself up about the shoulda’, coulda’ woulda’. No attempt goes without its lessons, even when you fail. Or should I say, especially when you fail. Learn from your mistakes, forgive yourself, chalk it up for experience and move on! 

  • De-clutter your life. Prioritize what’s important and rid yourself of what’s not. There’s no need to stress yourself out with unnecessary burdens. I’m not saying to blow off your commitments, but when you’ve got a full plate, scrape off what isn’t necessary or important to you or others in your life.

  • Look on the bright side. Start out every morning with a positive attitude. There are always days when everything goes wrong, but practice focusing on the good to prevent yourself from falling into a slump. 

  • Honor yourself. Treat yourself right; you deserve it! After all, there’s only one you and let’s face it, you’re pretty fabulous!!! Try some positive affirmations every morning. Look into your mirror and tell yourself why you’re so darn awesome. Maybe you’ll feel a little silly at first, but it most definitely works. Practice some cognitive re-training when that little jerk inside your head starts criticizing you. It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions. Stop that cycle by changing your thoughts to something positive or at least something neutral. Before you know it, positive thinking will become second nature!

  • Take care of your body. Be sure to adopt a healthy diet and an exercise regime. Don’t look at it like a chore; look at it as something you deserve! As we’ve already said, you’re pretty amazing so treat your body with the love and respect it deserves!

  • Make time for yourself and what you love. Make sure to schedule some time for yourself every day to do something you truly enjoy. Even when you’re super busy, take at least 30 minutes for yourself each day. Cook yourself a nice meal, take a warm bath, dance around in your underwear, or watch your favorite show. Whatever floats your boat!

  • Stop and smell the roses. Don’t forget that life is a gift. Make the most of each day and never forget about the simple things in life. Take the time to form a relationship with nature, and make as much time as you can for the ones you love. Your life is what you make it. And your life is too short to be anything but beautiful.
